Back row l to r :- Linda Bailey, Lynn Young, Pauline Bousfield, Verna Merryweather, Michelle Addison, Angela Garfoot, Christine Hankey, Gail Shaw, Angela Sambrook, Darielle Edwards, Kathleen Wright.
Centre row l to r :- Susan Coatsworth, Christopher Lee, Donna Bainbridge, (Me)Michael Pincher, Timothy Chapman, Paul Stabler, John Carl Smith, Dane Rollo, Jayne Petty, Gail Piper.
Front row l to r:- Susan Patterson, Julie Houffe, Diane White, David Watson, Julie Bellas, Andrew Horan, Caroline Fryatt, Mark Forster, Susan Clarkson, John Walton, Mandy Hyde, Michelle Palmer.

This picture was in fact 1974, at Timothy Hackworth. Two of the girls on the picture, Donna Bainbride (3rd middle row) and Michelle Palmer (right end front row) were only in our class for one school year, they came after term began and never returned the following year, so no idea what became of them. Most of the others went on to Sunnydale in 1975, except John Carl Smith and David Watson who both went to Aycliffe Schools.

Nigel Harrison isn't on the picture. He was a year or two younger than us and I think went to Saint Johns where his mother was a teacher.

Hope this helps. Mike.

Ken.

I remember my first crush on a female was when i was at Timothy Hackworths. I used to be in a class where we had to go down the steps behind the toilets in the yard to a class in a portacabin. The lady teacher had red hair but i cannot remember her name, It would be around 1966.

Hi,
You could be right, its ringing some bell in my head, i just remember she was a small thin lady but she was a great person. There was also a very large male teacher there who taught maths. He wore a corset type of thing to keep his belly in. When he was writing on the blackboard we used to throw our school fountain pens at his back!

The School has published a calandar for 2010 which is available in the town (from the Crier and the school itself) which has a mix of photos including old views of new Shildon and past puplis / events.

The proposed book to commemorate the centenary is nearing completion (with work being carried out over the Christmas Holiday by a small band of volunteers) and should be ready for the centenary in February.
Anyone with photos or memories can still contribute by contacting the school direct or by e mailing me: alan.ellwood@whsmithnet.co.uk and I can arrange to copy them and return them safely.
